Description

Artistic pillow inspired by the painting Afterimage of Light. Woman in a Window by Władysław Strzemiński

The exclusive jacquard textile is heavy, substantial, and pleasant to the touch. The multitude of various weaves is the result of months of design work. This masterpiece is created on looms available only in the finest European manufactories. The pillow features both an obverse and reverse side. On one side, it can bring art into the room, while on the other, it can become a minimalist interior decoration.

Designed and woven in Poland. Handcrafted on Warsaw's Mokotów.

Produced under a license obtained from the artist's heirs.

Afterimages briefly appear in our eyes when, after looking at an object, we avert our eyes. We see a blurred shape in complementary color. They became inspiration for Strzemiński's avant-garde works, who painted a series of pictures capturing the optical impression caused by looking at the sun. The most famous one is 'Afterimage of Light. Woman in a Window'.

It is characterized by a thick texture and short, multicolored brushstrokes. Upon closer inspection, one can discern the outline of blue eyes and red lips. The painting consists of irregular patches, multicolored wavy lines, both convex and concave. Some of the lines lack a clear beginning or end.

In 2016, Bogusław Linda portrayed Strzemiński in the film "Afterimage." This was Andrzej Wajda's final work.
